Endodontic Treatment

What is Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal Treatment)?

Endodontic treatment is one of the most common dental procedures, with over 14 million treatments performed worldwide each year. This straightforward procedure can help save your natural teeth and prevent the need for bridges or implants in the future.

Inside each tooth is the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. Infection of the pulp can occur due to trauma, deep cavities, cracks, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms may include tooth fractures, swelling, sensitivity to heat, toothache, or gum pain.

If you experience any of these symptoms, it's likely that you may need endodontic treatment. During the procedure, the infected pulp is removed, and the root canals are thoroughly cleaned and sealed. Local anesthesia is used, and usually, one or more appointments are required.

The success rate of endodontic treatment is very high, often around 90%. With modern technology, including advanced equipment for cleaning and filling the root canals, along with the use of a microscope, the procedure is more predictable and allows for the treatment of even complex cases.

What Happens After Endodontic Treatment?

Once endodontic treatment is completed, a detailed report of the procedure will be sent to your dentist. You should contact your dentist within the next few days to schedule the restoration of your tooth. Your dentist will determine the most suitable type of restoration for your specific case.

To ensure the long-term success of your treated tooth, we recommend a follow-up X-ray and clinical check-up approximately 6 months after treatment. This will help monitor the healing process and confirm the continued health of the tooth.
